Fractice, a free open-source fractal explorer/renderer for XP/Vista,
is now available for download. Its basic features include navigation,
previews, history thumbnails, antialiasing, bitmap export, printing,
palettes, and undo/redo. More advanced features include deep zoom,
movie recording, posters, color cycling, batch rendering, and job
control. The fractals currently supported are the Mandelbrot set,
including cubic and higher-exponent variants, and the Newton.

Fractice is multithreaded and utilizes all cores on a multicore
machine. Fractice also supports distributed processing, using any
number of additional machines as rendering servers. Distributed
processing is supported for exploring, as well as for movie and poster
rendering.

Fractice also has VJ-oriented features, such as mixing between two
fractals, mirroring with origin motion, palette tweening, DirectX full-
screen Exclusive mode, dual-monitor support, and MIDI control of all
parameters.

The movie recording and concurrency are features that FracTint does
not hav, to my knowledge. Mixing between different fractals is
something that I prefer PSP for, since a lot of options exist.
FracTint (or WinFract) supports a lot more fractal types, including
ifs, x-y orbits, cellular automata, bifurcation, random dot
stereograms (needs work), and sound. What language did you write in?
WinFract needs to support skewing. In fact, if corners mode ever
supports four points, then the center-mag mode of zooming will need a
few more numbers in it. http://www.fractint.org/
